1.
Our Father in heaven, holy is your name Your kingdom come, your will be done On earth as it is in heaven Give us our daily bread And forgive us as we forgive Lead us not into temptation But deliver us from the evil one Our Father who is in heaven Yours is the kingdom Yours is the power Yours is the glory, oh God
2.
To him who sits upon the throne Who was, and is, and is to come All glory power and praise To the name of names Jesus, saviour Holy are you, Lord Your mercies never end And all your ways are faithful and true Holy Holy is the Lord
3.
Immanuel 03:49
The Son of God was born to us today The Bright and Morning Star in manger laid The angels sang “Glory in the highest! And peace on earth and goodwill to men!” My soul magnifies the Lord Immanuel Our God is with us
4.
Jesus, we were dead in sin Enemies of God, we could not keep your laws But now we are reconciled by you The charge which once condemned You’ve nailed upon the cross We praise the name of the Lord For you are our mighty deliverer We were slaves of addiction We could not change ourselves Even when we tried But now you have overcome their power Victorious is the Lamb Who triumphs through the cross Who was, and is, and is to come Our mighty deliver
5.
In the beginning, your Spirit was brooding Over the waters, over the surface of deep You divided the sea with the strength of your hands As the waters stood firm Your children walked through on dry land And the mystery is Jesus, when you were pierced Water and blood flowed down Baptise me in your name Wash me in yourself The water you give will become like a spring That wells up within us into eternity From the throne of the lamb is a river of life That heals and refreshes Makes glad the city of God And the mystery is
6.
This I Ask 05:56
This I ask, this I seek To be with you and never leave To gaze upon your beauty, God To see your face, to feel your touch I long for you With all my strength I need your love Its height and length Is there more than we’ve known? Spirit come, hear these groans That every veil would now be torn And we would see your glory, Lord We long for you With all our strength We need your love Its height and length
7.
Hallelujah 05:07
It’s been a long and heavy season Your burden is light So I come and fall at your feet, oh God I am tired and weary hearted Your promise is peace So I come to enter your rest, oh God Hallelujah You will not give what I can’t handle You’re gentle and kind I take your yoke, Jesus, I’ll learn from you Put your hands upon my shoulders Bring me to life Spirit, come and fill me with joy again
8.
Where can I go from your presence? Where can I go from your spirit? If I rise up to the heights Jesus, you are there If I fall into the depths Jesus, you are there I’ll stand on your faithfulness You are with me through it all And where you are, there is resurrection You are life in it all When the darkness shuts me in It is never dark to you And the night will shine like day It is always light to you
9.
When you look with your eyes I know that you have seen me You called my name, I heard your voice I am unsure, but I’ll follow I might be shaken, I might be moved You are the rock beneath me To whom shall we go? You have the words of the life And we have come to know That you are the Christ

about

This album spans songs that were written over the course of the last ten years. "We Praise the Name of the Lord" came in 2007, when I was part of the Kowloon City Vineyard in Hong Kong - I was (and remain) so very inspired by the ways Jesus sets people free from the bondage and brokenness of addiction. "Where Can I Go" came at home in Winnipeg in the fall of 2016 - it was the culmination of reflecting on Psalm 139 and Jesus' words to Martha prior to raising Lazarus.

Typically, songs come as I am alone with God at home, singing to him with an acoustic guitar. An unbidden melody or phrase materializes, and only if it lingers afterwards do I labour to craft and hone it. Eventually, a song emerges - like sculpture from a block of marble - through which God provides new ways of (as the Apostle Paul writes in Acts 17) reaching out for and finding him. The whole process is a matter of grace, joy, and mystery, really.

Sometime in 2016, I decided that I wanted to compile a few of the better songs of the last decade into an album, primarily as a means of documenting this season of my life. Having recently participated in a church worship album with more traditional instrumentation, I decided I wouldn't use any guitars and would attempt an entirely electronic project. I began leisurely recording at home, evening after evening, without anyone knowing except my wife. It felt important - worshipful even - to do things in secret. I am grateful for the hiddenness these songs have enjoyed, and I am grateful to now be able to share them.
